Sebastian writhes and moans under Felicity. It’s sensual and exhilarating, and I want nothing more than for her to make me feel that way again. She can’t continue to let her fear of herself get in the way of her destiny to be queen. Felicity was made for more than a life with us. She was born to rule and maintain peace in this realm. That’s why, seeing what this is doing to her has made me realize something. As terrifying as the prospect may be, I have to take myself out of the equation here. If she won’t choose, I’ll help her make her decision. I have to speak to the queen and figure out a way to keep us alive and ensure Felicity makes her choice and ascends.

Turning away, I head for the door while she’s still occupied. Garrett gives me a questioning look and Miller, although he’s still dazed, frowns at me. All I can do is shake my head as I unlock the door and step out into the hallway. My hands shake when I reach the broad staircase and begin my descent. I know the court is gone, but I’m sure someone will be around to take care of this. I need to see the queen and get out of here. Fingers trembling, I grasp for the pendant I’ve promised to wear, but my blood runs cold when I find it gone. No. I forgot to put it back on after waking.

The sound of a throat clearing hits my ears before I can turn around.

“Isn’t this a lovely predicament?” Her voice is sin and seduction, and definitely not Felicity’s.
